My latest article, Budget Kaldheim Cards for Commander, is live on TCGplayer Infinite. In the article, I highlight four Kaldheim rares that cost less than the price of a booster pack. These cards have the potential to shine in EDH. Also, I believe some of these cards may see play in Standard post-rotation in October 2020.
Among the four rares mentioned, my favorite budget rare is Birgi, God of Storytelling. This card is fantastic in red EDH decks; especially, mono-red. There are many infinite combos (I outlined one in the article), along with strong synergies with popular red commanders. The incremental mana is nice. Also, the backside of the card, Harnfel, Horn of Bounty, is very powerful. This card is even better than the popular Outpost Siege in the right decks. Once you have played both sides of Birgi, you will understand how strong this card really is in EDH. Finally, I believe Birgi could see Standard play post-October rotation. The next card I really like is Realmwalker. WOTC has pushed Elves in recent sets between Kaldheim and Commander Legends. This card is an easy include in the new Elves Precon deck. It is similar to Vizier of the Menagerie but has more upside in the right decks. Players love tribal EDH decks, and Realmwalker plays well with multiple tribes. I particularly like the card with Elves, Hydras, Bears, and even Scarecrows. Also, this card could see Standard play in the future. It has a powerful effect and plays well on the curve. The 2/3 body can block early attackers while offering a sudo-card advantage. Comments are closed.
