This week's Magic: The Gathering article, Which Cards Spiked Because of Strixhaven?, covers some of the noteworthy card price spikes thanks to Strixhaven: School of Mages. You may be familiar with Chain of Smog going from bulk to pricy overnight due to Professor Onyx and Witherbloom Apprentice. I also cover other cards like Dragon's Approach that caused price spikes due to new synergies. I am excited for Strixhaven’s official paper release and hope you are too.
My latest article, Commander 2021 Buyer's Guide, is now live on TCGplayer Infinite. This week, I highlight synergistic cards for three of the five new commanders featured in Commander 2021 decks. The three featured commanders are:
Artifacts with the Suspend mechanic, like Mox Tantalite and Lotus Bloom, are potent additions for Osgir, the Reconstructor. Players interested in Willowdusk, Essence Seer will want to include the Wall of Blood and Rite of Consumption combo. Anyone interested in doubling tokens with Adrix and Nev, Twincasters should add Doubling Season and Helm of the Host to their decks. I touch on a couple of other synergistic cards that players will want to consider for Osgir, the Reconstructor, Willowdusk, Essence Seer, and Adrix and Nev, Twincasters. Each new commander offers new card synergizes to experiment with when deck building. Let me know which new Commander you are excited to play! The Magic: The Gathering 2021 Challenger Decks released on April 2nd, 2021. Each 2021 Challenger Deck includes one or more copies of powerful Standard cards like Embercleave, Skyclave Apparation, and Torbran, Thane of Red Fell. Many players are aware that Challenger Decks provide a great value for players interested in dipping into the Standard format prior to fall rotation.
In my latest TCGplayer Infinite article, What do Challenger Decks Do to Prices?, I discuss how Challenger Decks influence the prices for included singles. Prices for cards that rotate and do not rotate within 6 months can act differently. If you have any interest in MTG finance or playing Standard in 2021, I recommend checking out the article. |
