Ten Black Commander Cards You Should Be Playing

9/26/2021

Black is a powerful color of Magic: The Gathering, particularly in Commander. Players utilize black's tutor abilities and destructive power to win games. Demonic Tutor and Toxic Deluge are two reasons to run black in a Commander deck.

While you may be familiar with the aforementioned cards, black contains many other powerful spells capable of dominating opponents. In the TCGplayer Infinite article, 10 Black Cards You Should Be Playing, I highlight black cards you may not be running in a Commander decklist. Did you know Deadly Dispute is a functionally-better reprint of Costly Plunder? If you enjoy playing black in Commander, I suggest you read through the article.

Card That Spiked Due to Midnight Hunt

9/22/2021

In this week's article, Which Cards Spiked Because of Midnight Hunt?, I discuss notable cards that saw sharp increases in sales and price due to Midnight Hunt. A return to Innistrad is bound to make an impact on tribal creatures, especially Werewolves. Tovolar, Dire Overlord and his  Werewolf friends from Midnight Hunt are pushing prices of older Werewolf cards higher. However, Werewolves are not the only cause of recent price spikes

New cards support flashback and Zombies are impacting prices for several cards. I am personally excited to update my Commander decks with Midnight Hunt cards. What are you looking forward to trying out in your format of choice from Midnight Hunt?

The Evolution of Magic: The Gathering Draft Boosters

9/10/2021

My latest article, The Evolution of MTG Draft Boosters, explores the history of the original booster packs in Magic: The Gathering. I cover changes over time in Draft Booster contents, card counts, and premium foils. Did you know a handful of the original MTG booster packs only contain eight cards?

The article includes a table featuring the pull rates of premium foils between Urza's Legacy and today. I believe it is the most comprehensive and concise foil pull rate information available.
Thank you to those on the /magicTCG subreddit for helping me verify foil pull rates for booster packs from older sets.
