Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms includes 26 out of the 90 playable cards in Magic: The Gathering that produce or reference Treasure tokens. As such, Commander decks interested in creating Treasure or artifact tokens have new resources at their disposal. My latest article, 5 Commander Cards Improved by Forgotten Realms, highlights five Commander cards receiving a booster in power and synergy from Forgotten Realms Treasure-related cards. One example is Revel in Riches, a black enchantment from Ixalan. Revel in Riches is an enchantment that wants you to amass ten or more treasures to win the game. Since Forgotten Realms contains multiple new black Treasure-producing creatures and spells, players may want to include Revel in Riches in more Commander decks. Unfortunately, both sets were considered failures by Wizards of the Coast due to a handful of reasons. Fallen Empires became overprinted as an attempt to fix the scarcity of earlier expansions. Homelands had a low power level and limited use for many of its cards.

As a replacement to the summer core set, Forgotten Realms includes unique mechanics such as dungeons and dice rolling. The introduction of new cards and mechanics from Forgotten Realms led to a number of cards spiking in sales and price.
