Magic: The Gathering's release of Bloomburrow initiates the 2024 Standard format rotation of legal sets. In early August, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, Innistrad: Crimson Vow, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, and Streets of New Capenna will rotate out of the Standard. Also, this Standard rotation marks the life cycle change of Standard-legal sets moving from two to three years. Many potent and playable cards are no longer playable in the current Standard environment but are useful in other MTG formats.
In my recent TCGplayer article, 5 MTG Cards You Should Keep After Standard Rotation, I highlight five MTG cards you should keep in your collection versus selling them off. Cards like The Wandering Emperor and Unlicensed Hearse are excellent considerations in Constructed decks outside of Standard. Read the article to see what other cards you may want to hold onto going into the fall season. Duskmourn: House of Horror is Magic: The Gathering's first foray into the horror genre. With a fall 2024 release date of September 27th, Duskmourn takes players to a haunted house on a new plane. The demon Valgavoth manipulates the inside of the haunted house, trapping visitors, changing surrounds, and corrupting monsters.
My recent TCGplayer article, 4 MTG Cards Players Want from Duskmourn: House of Horror, highlights 4 cards players want to see in the upcoming set. Will new creature types and more enchantment lands appear in Duskmourn? Players will not have to wait much longer to find out. Magic: The Gathering's Dimir guild is one of the ten Ravnica guilds in the game. Dimir represents the color combination of blue and black and is often associated with milling, tutoring, and card draw. Two mechanics found on Dimir cards include Surveil and Transmute. You may find Dimir creature cards with Ninja, Faerie, and other Kindred typing.
In my recent TCGplayer Infinite article, 5 More Dimir MTG Cards You Should be Playing in Commander, I discuss five excellent Dimir cards to play in the 99 of Commander decks. Cards like Ertai Resurrected and Waterlogged Teachings can synergy well with multiple Commander deck themes. Read the article to learn what other cards you need to try out in a UB Commander deck. Magic: The Gathering's Modern Horizons 3 was a hotly anticipated set that released in June, 2024. Modern Horizons 3 is a straight to Modern set with legality in Modern, Legacy, Vintage, and Commander. Interestingly, Modern Horizons 3 includes retro reprints such as Priest of Titania and Meltdown that are newly legal in the Modern format.
In my TCGplayer article, The Best Steals and Deals from Modern Horizons 3, I highlight several value singles buys from Modern Horizons 3. There are a number of incredible Rares in the set that are available for less than $5 each. You will not want to overlook these budget-friendly singles when building Modern or Commander decks. |
