Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy introduced players to Balthier and Fran, two characters from Playstation 2's Final Fantasy XII. In the video game, Balthier and Fran are sky pirates that pilot a flying airship named the Strahl. It is fitting that Balthier and Fran's card design synergizes with Vehicles and grants them several buffs. The opportunity to receive an additional combat step is a nice touch. Recent MTG sets have added a number of playable red and green vehicles to the game that synergize well with Balthier and Fran. Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy is finally here! Many Characters from across Final Fantasy's vast game library are found in the set. Among them is Cloud Strife, the blond-haired protagonist in Final Fantasy VII. Cloud is depicted on several cards, including Cloud, Midgar Mercenary. This Mythic Rare is an impressive legendary creature with Equipment synergies. In fact, Cloud, Midgar Mercenary's abilities make it an appealing mono-white commander choice for Equipment-centric decks.
